How can STEP help you?
STEP’s main priority is to assist faculty in communicating research to various audiences through various mediums.
Many federal agencies and other granting organizations – such as the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Institutes of Health – require outreach/educational components to be included in research grant projects.
STEP exists to partner with faculty, departments or centers to enhance their competitiveness in grant seeking through developing outreach and communication components.
We do this by:
- Creating multimedia outreach/learning components
- Using the latest in new media and social networking
- Conducting evaluation/assessment on the outreach/education components
- Developing face-to-face or online training modules
What is the STEP program

STEP works to translate science to the public or a specifically targeted audience.
STEP’s co-directors and coordinator have expertise in education, communication, new media, social networking, communication, critical thinking and extension fields.
STEP is currently developing educational and outreach materials funded by more than one million dollars in external grants.
